ProaSense Integration progress

Integrating ProaSense is a challenge by itself, but the results are very rewarding. Complex systems with aspects from low-level “roughness” like diverse sensors to abstract business intelligence concepts can become difficult to manage. However due to a proper, layered out architecture and a lot of thought put into the communication protocols the task is steadily heading forward in its tracks. Considering that another iteration of the product awaits, we can be confident that a useful and quality product will be obtained at the end.


 

Scientific and technological state of the art analysis and on requirement

The Proactive Sensing Enterprise, or in short ProaSense, is one of the first adopters in the shift from reactive to proactive computing in enterprise systems. It aims at developing an enterprise system which will continuously be aware of what may happen in the relevant business context and optimize its behaviour, to achieve the best possible action, to prevent problems and capitalize on opportunities before they occur. It will do this through the adoptation of the Observe-Orient-Decide-Act (OODA) loop of situational awareness and will develop the corresponding technologies to support a scalable distributed architecture, for the processing of Big Data, that will enable continuous monitoring and propose changes in a (semi-) automatic way.


 

Conceptual architecture for proactive recommenders for enterprise decision support

 ‘Conceptual Architecture for Proactive Recommenders for Enterprise Decision Support’ presents an updated state of the art analysis in decision methods and recommender systems in manufacturing as well as the conceptual architecture for WP 4 software services and components. Our motivation is explained, a framework for decision making is proposed and a review of methods and techniques is presented. The state of the art analysis helps in identifying and structuring the methods and techniques employed in related works for supporting decision making in the context of manufacturing. nts from incoming events and keeps up to date the context taken into account for context-aware decision-making. (v) The recommendation feedback analyser service, which analyses in an offline mode the feedback with respect to the implementation of the recommended actions, supporting the business analyst in the process of refining the recommendation generation.

The services, tools and techniques, developed by the project partners, in the ProaSense consortuim range from storage architectures and solutions, real-time data analytics and processing together with real-time data enrichment, to goal-driven complex event detection, real-time decision support systems and business rule modelling. As part of task T1.1 the deliverable presents a survey of the existing tools and technologies in these fields as well as their appliance to the sensing enterprise context. Furthermore a list of pre-existing components, developed by the project partners, is presented with detailed descriptions.
